Phasers Pretty unfinished but not bad for the hour time limit. 0
Nelly Furtado - Maneater Remix 1
First Hour Well there you go, it’s begun. The first hour of my Song-A-Day stint is finished. It was a cruisey[?] session with not a lot of planning. Pretty much just started putting the drums and bass lines together and let it run from there. In future tracks I’m hoping to create songs with more structure. This was more of a test run for the hour. Finished up easy. The challenge lies further up. 0

Shogun Continuing my Track-a-day stint with the 5th D'n'B song in a row. This one has a slide guitar! How about that. This one has a catch riff and uppity drums. Pretty light-hearted track with some heavy bass. 0
Aquatic This is a simpler d'n'b tune; it's almost more on the breaks tip. It makes use of wicked drumbreak off Fausto Papetti's Love's Theme, a very well known break in hiphop. Enjoy this slightly submerged quicky. 0
Calling Big, airy drum'n'bass. The basses are loud, the kicks are reverbed. There's just one breakdown that brings it back into the main theme. Watch the synth melody follow the snare hits and how they kind of turn into more of a trance rhythm at the end. 0
Fired Pt.1 A pretty basic drum'n'bass tune with some punch. Big bass and lots of snare. Ride it for a bit, this is only part one; this track can definitely go some place interesting. 0
Saturday I stayed in last night and made this jazzy drum'n'bass track. Kept it pretty cool until the end when it breaks out; plus there's a great quiet breakdown in the middle thanks to some Art Blakey drumming. Funky bass and keys. 0
We Begin This was my first attempt at a trance song a long time ago. It changes too much for psy-trance but is still a fun track. Check out the TACKY sitar and the corny synths. But a completely awesome sample for the chorus [uh oh!]. Crack open the broadband, this song is ten minutes. 0
Indiana Fast paced trance with quite a few changes in a shortish time [for a trance song]. Quite a few samples with a cool Art Of Noise bit at the end. Which samples can you pick? 0
Ragga Sagga Stealing a Charles Kynard bassline I’ve put together a little reggae groove that’s got a pinch of ska in it. Thanks to Miles Davis for the Bitchin Brew horns I’ve thrown in for a little style. 0
Lemont Dozier One Here’s a little breaks tune based around the break from Take Off Your Make-Up by Lemont Dozier. Slower kind of beat around the 95BPM mark but with a definite breaks influence. 1
Shuffle'Em Cards Tribal groove with distorted bass. Makes use of John Schoeder and Johnny Pate drum breaks. The title is inspired by my eagerness to organise some poker nights - Texas hold’em, that is. 0
Uphill Battle It’s nice when drum breaks have a lot of expression - particularly in the hats. In 1976 Kid Dynamite had a track on their self-titled LP called Uphill (Peace of Mind). The break in that song has been sampled by a fair few artists, including Dr Dre on Nuttin’ But a G’ Thang and Fat Joe on Shit Is Real, to name a few. Because it’s quite a slow break, it means we can do a lot more with it in regards to tempo. I’ve sped it to around 140BPM and kept the drums raw without compression and kept them live without any additional reverb. I also laid a little Toots & the Maytals with their version of Hold On underneath there. 0
